A new season of the World Cup is sitting on the soil of Bangladesh. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will organize this women’s T20 World Cup in October this year. The list of venues for this big event includes Dhaka’s Mirpur Shere Bangla National Stadium and Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

The ICC delegation has visited the venues ahead of the World Cup. The five-member team will arrive in Sylhet tomorrow, Tuesday.

The ICC delegation includes Women’s World Cup Event Operations Manager Gurjit Singh, Pitch Consultant Andy Atkinson, Commercial and Sponsorship Division Laila Stein, Hospitality Division Alana White and Security Specialist David Musker.

Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel, head of BCB’s women’s department, said that ICC sends such a delegation before any major tournament. After seeing Mirpur, they will go to Sylhet on Tuesday.

He said, ‘We are hopeful, ICC will be satisfied with our preparations.’

Bangladesh is once again hosting the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup after 10 years. The decision was taken at the 2022 ICC Annual General Meeting held in Birmingham, UK. The league stage games of the World Cup are scheduled to be played in Sylhet and the semi-finals and final in Dhaka.

Bangladesh, Australia, England, India, South Africa, New Zealand, West Indies and Pakistan will play directly in the 10-team T20 World Cup. Other teams will come through two qualifiers.

This qualifier will start on April 25 in the United Arab Emirates. Whereas Group ‘A’ has Sri Lanka, Thailand, Scotland, Uganda, USA and Group ‘B’ has Ireland, Zimbabwe, Netherlands, United Arab Emirates and Vanuatu.
