Dhaka: A night watchman named Farid Mia (65) was killed in a road accident in capital’s Merul Badda. However, it is not known which vehicle caused the accident.

The accident happened on Monday (April 22) around 4 am. Later, when he was seriously injured, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DHMC), where the doctor declared Farid dead.

Nazmul Hasan Robin, the grandson of the deceased Farid, said that he lived with his family at Dakshin Badda Nani’s home. He is the father of five daughters. For years, Farid worked as a night watchman looking after the buses parked on the roadside in Merul Badda.

Nazmul also said that he received news on the phone early in the morning that Farid was injured in a road accident under Merul Badda Yuloop. After going there, he was found in a bloody state. However, none of the locals could tell which vehicle had caused the accident.

According to the doctor, DMK Hospital Police Camp Assistant Incharge (ASI) Md. Masud told BanglaNews that the body has been kept in the morgue for autopsy.
