Sylhet: Bangladesh Press Council Chairman Justice Md. Nizamul Haque Nasim said that before taking any case against the journalists, the permission of the Press Council should be taken. Power of Press Council needs to be increased.

He said these things in the speech of the chief guest at the training workshop on prevention of yellow journalism and objective journalism in mass media organized with the participation of print and electronic media journalists of Sylhet district on Sunday (April 21).

The training workshop was organized by Bangladesh Press Council and with the cooperation of Sylhet district administration.

He said that this law has been passed in Bangladesh for the first time in the Asia Pacific region. On February 14, 1974, Bangabandhu held a press council for journalists. India has never been to Malaysia before. Bangabandhu’s thought for journalists was far-reaching.

In the first session of the training, Shyamal Chandra Karmakar, secretary of the Bangladesh Press Council, spoke as a resource person on the principles of journalism and the code of conduct formulated by the Press Council.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Hossain Mohammad Al Junayed gave the president’s speech, Additional Superintendent of Police (Media) Samrat Talukder gave the special guest speech.

Sylhet district press club president Hasina Begum Chowdhury, press club president Iqbal Siddiqui, newly elected president Ikramul Kabir, former president of Sylhet district press club and special representative of BanglaTV Al Azad, general secretary of Sylhet press club Sirajul Islam, president of Sylhet online press club Muhit Chowdhury, Daily Samakal Bureau Chief Mukit Rahmani, BanglaNews24.com Senior Correspondent Nasir Uddin and Daily Jalalabad Senior Reporter Muhibur Rahman.

After that, the guests handed over certificates to the journalists who participated in the workshop.
