Mohsin, analyst of Bangladesh team for two years

Mohsin Sheikh will start working as a performance analyst of the Bangladesh national team for a full term from the series against Zimbabwe. After working on a temporary contract during the tour of New Zealand last year, he got the responsibility of the performance analyst of the Bangladesh team on a full-time basis. For the next two years, he will work with Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Mehdi Hasan Miraj. Jalal Yunus, head of BCB’s cricket management department, confirmed the news of Mohsin’s appointment to the media yesterday.

Said, ‘We are again taking Mohsin Sheikh as the analyst of the national team. He has worked with us before. This time a two-year contract has been signed with him. Mohsin will start work from next month’s Zimbabwe series.

The five-match T20 series will begin on May 3 at Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. The Zimbabwean team will come to Bangladesh on April 28. The first three matches of the series are in Chittagong. The last two will be in Mirpur.

It is known that the contract with Mohsin is from May 1, 2024 to April 30, 2026. Before that, he worked as an analyst for Shanto in three ODIs and three T20Is of New Zealand tour last year. Bangladesh won an ODI and a T20 for the first time in New Zealand on that tour. Jalal Yunus had hinted before taking over that time that Mohsin might be retained for the full term.

Bangladesh has not had a permanent analyst since last year’s World Cup. Former national cricketer Nasir Ahmed served as an analyst in the Test series against New Zealand at home. Later on the request of the team management, Mohsin was given responsibility for the tour of New Zealand. Mohsin then worked for Khulna Tigers in BPL. Later BCB did not give him responsibility for the full series against Sri Lanka at home. BCB analyst Shaun Jahan worked in that series.

After about 4 months, Mohsin signed a full term contract with Bangladesh. He has long experience as an analyst. In the 2003-04 season, he started working with age-based teams at the National High Performance Center of Pakistan. Then migrated to Australia. Mohsin got citizenship of that country due to work. He has worked with several teams in Big Bash. An Australian of Pakistani origin was with Rajasthan Royals in 2009 IPL. He also worked in PSL at different times. He last worked for Afghanistan national team before Bangladesh. He was an analyst for Afghanistan in last year’s Asia Cup and World Cup.
