Ayesha Siddika Minni, the accused who was sentenced to death in Barguna’s controversial Rifat Sharif murder case, has again applied to the High Court seeking bail. Sunday (April 21) Justice Md. The bail application was filed in a High Court bench headed by Ruhul Quddus.

Earlier on January 11, 2023, a bench of the High Court expressed incompetence to hear Ayesha Siddika Minni’s bail plea in the Barguna Rifat Sharif murder case. The High Court bench of Justice Sheikh Hasan Arif and Justice Biswajit Debnath refused to hear the bail plea.

Later on May 8, 2023, Ayesha Siddika, who was sentenced to death in the controversial Rifat Sharif murder case of Barguna, applied for bail in the Minni High Court. However, his bail application came on the agenda but was not heard later.

Incidentally, on September 30, 2020 Barguna District and Sessions Judge Court Judge Md. Asaduzzaman sentenced 6 people including Minni to death. The verdict sentenced 6 of the 10 adult defendants to death. In addition, 6 accused were sentenced to a fine of 50 thousand taka. The remaining 4 were acquitted.

Later, as per rules, the death reference reached the High Court on October 4 of the same year to approve the death sentence of the six accused. Besides, on October 6, Minni and other accused filed an appeal.

The defendants sentenced to death are — Md. Rakibul Hasan Rifat aka Rifat Farazi, Al Qayyum aka Rabbi Akon, Mohaiminul Islam Sifat, Rezwan Ali Khan Hriday aka TikTok Hriday, Md. Hasan and Ayesha Siddiqa Minni.

Acquitted – Md. Musa (runaway), Rafiul Islam Rabbi, Md. Sagar and Kamrul Islam Simon.

On June 26, 2019, around 10:30 am, Nayan Bond and Rifat Faraji’s accomplices hacked Rifat Sharif in front of his wife Minni in front of Calyx Academy on Barguna Government College Road. Rifat was taken to Barguna General Hospital in critical condition. Later he was admitted to Barisal Sher Bangla Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. Rifat died while undergoing treatment there.

Then Rifat’s father Dulal Sharif filed a murder case in Barguna police station against Sabbir Ahmed alias Nayan Bond as the main accused and named 12 people and unknown five/six others. The father of deceased Rifat first made Minnie the main witness in this case.

Later, in the early hours of July 2, the main accused Nayan Bond (25) was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with the police in Purakata Ferighat area of ​​Burirachar Union of the district headquarters.

20 days after the murder, Minnie was taken from her father’s house to the Barguna police line on July 16 that year for questioning. After the interrogation, Minni was arrested that night as it seemed that she was involved in the murder.

On August 29 of the same year, the High Court granted Minni bail. On September 1, 24 people were charged and the charge sheet was submitted to the court divided into two parts, minors and minors. Among them there are 10 adults and 14 minors. Charges were framed on 1 January 2020 against 10 adult accused. Later, after taking testimony, arguments, the verdict was announced on September 30.

On the other hand, after the trial, on October 27, 2020, the judge of Barguna District Women and Children Court announced the verdict on 14 minors. Hafizur Rahman. The verdict sentenced six to 10 years, four to five years and one to three years. The court acquitted the other three.
