There was an incident where a 60-year-old woman was killed after being raped and her body was buried on the floor of the house because she was prevented from consuming drugs. The brutal incident took place in Madhya Katadia village of Barisal’s Bakerganj upazila.
The police arrested two people involved in the incident using technology. The arrested are the son of deceased Ayub Ali of Katadia village of the same union. Lalchan (32), son of Faisal (35) and deceased Kalam Howladar Kalu.
This information was given in a press conference at the Barisal District Police Superintendent’s office on Sunday, April 21.
Barisal Superintendent of Police Wahidul Islam said Rizia Begum (60), wife of deceased Zainal Gazi, lived alone in Katadia village of Charmaddi Union. Rizia Begum disappeared about seven months ago. Rizia Begum’s son Russell came home on April 13 and found a heap of mud inside the house. When the matter was informed to the police, they retrieved Rizia Begum’s body from inside the house and sent it to Barisal Shebachim Hospital for autopsy.
Superintendent of Police said that the victim’s brother Howladar Masud filed a case as a plaintiff in this incident. Barisal district police started investigation based on the source of the case.
Superintendent of Police Wahidul Islam also said that Faisal and Lalchan used to consume drugs constantly in and around the old lady’s house. Faisal and Lalchan were killed by tying cloths around their necks after a premeditated rape on the day of the incident, i.e. about seven months ago. Then they buried her in the old woman’s house. Both Faisal and Lalchan are drug addicts.
The two arrested were produced in court on Sunday.
