A booming coaching business is going on in Mymensingh when schools and colleges across the country have been closed amid much fanfare.

Although the students expressed their discomfort, they are forced to come to the classes under the pressure of the teachers and parents of the coaching centers.

Education officials in Mymensingh have announced action against those concerned for leaving coaching open in the scorching heat and putting students at risk.

Meanwhile, the Met Office has been recording a maximum temperature of around 40 degrees Celsius in Mymensingh for the past few days.

In this situation, the government decided to close schools and colleges across the country for seven days to avoid health risks.

However, on Sunday morning, more than four hundred coaching centers were found to be operating in several areas including Boundary Road, Naha Road, College Road, Zilla School Road of Mymensingh city.

At the private level, several educational institutions, including Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam College, have seen students sitting in piles to take classes.

However, according to students, it is better for them to keep private educational institutions like government schools and colleges and coaching centers closed during summer.

Anupam Roy, a class VII student of Sajib Sir’s Mathematics Private Program, commented, “It is a bit difficult to sit in a heap at the coaching center and take classes. I don’t want to leave the house in this summer. Sir, it would have been better if the coaching center had been closed.”

Afia Jannat, another Class IX student of the coaching center commented, “There are no regular classes in the school; Now if you don’t come to coaching how will you study. As soon as the school opens, there is another exam. Although we are having a bit of trouble coming to coaching in the hot sun. Still hoping, by God’s grace, nothing will happen.”

The parent of a student named Rakibul Islam said, “The school is closed for six months of the year due to various reasons. Students have to rely on private and coaching to study.”

Claiming that the government’s decision to close schools in the scorching heat nationwide is very logical, Rakibul Islam further said, “If any instructions come from the government; Then the teachers might stop coaching.”

Sajib Ahmed, a teacher of ‘Sajib Sir’s Mathematics Private Program’ said, “The sudden closure of the school is not known. All teachers are coaching; If they stop then I will stop too. However, additional fans have been installed in the classrooms for heating.”

Rafiqul Islam, principal of Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam College in Mymensingh said, “HSC exam after two months. So their special class test is being taken. If I think it’s a problem, I’ll turn it off. All the teachers will sit and decide on this.”

Director of Secondary and Higher Education, Mymensingh, Prof. Azharul Islam said, “Keeping in mind the safety of students and respecting the government’s decision, teachers should stop all coaching programs.”

He said, “After receiving the complaint, the truth of the coaching was found by contacting several people. We will definitely take action in this regard.”
