Entertainment Desk: West Bengal actor Parambrata Chatterjee was seen in filmmaker Fakhrul Arefin Khan’s first film ‘Bhuvan Majhi’. After that, he made two movies named ‘Gandi’ and ‘JK 1971’ with Sabyasachi Chakraborty, another elite actor of West Bengal.

Fakhrul Arefin has started working on his fourth movie. The name of the film is ‘Neel Jochna’. This time popular West Bengal actress Pauly Dam is acting in Arefin’s movie. She will be seen in the role of Laila, the female lead of the movie.

This government funded movie is based on Mushtaq Ahmed’s parapsychology novel ‘Neel Jochna Jeeban’. Producer Fakhrul Arefin Khan signed an official contract with Pauli at Decalogue Management Center in Kolkata last Wednesday. Who will be opposite Pauly in the movie is yet to be finalised.

However, the producer said that he will select an actor from the country opposite Pauli. He will finalize it very soon.

About acting in Bangladeshi movies, Pauli said on the phone from Kolkata, ‘Last year, director Fakhrul Arefin Khan contacted me about this movie. First I heard the story from him, as I had not read that book by Mushtaq Ahmed, then when I read the book, it felt great.’

He said, ‘It can be said that I have been involved with this movie since that day. The ceremony was held last Wednesday.’ This actress also said, ‘To tell the truth, parallel universe has not been worked on in Bengal. Some work has been done in Hollywood. Examples include Christopher Nolan’s The Interestler, Inception.’

Producer Fakhrul Arefin Khan said, I started working on the movie ‘Neel Jochna’ about 6 years ago. At the end of 2018. I think there has been no work on parapsychology in Bangladesh before. And that’s why when I read Mushtaq Ahmed’s novel, I immediately thought of making a movie.

He said, then the work was stopped in 2019 due to Corona and my movie ‘JK 1971’. After that, I started the work again from the beginning of last year.

Talking about Paoli Dam in the new movie, the director said, ‘Laila is one of the female characters in our story, which goes a lot with Paoli Dam, which is why we chose her for this role in the first place.

Then Pauli was contacted, he was sent the script and he also agreed to act in our movie. Hopefully, we can finish the job very well with Pauly.’

The producer said, the shooting of the movie ‘Neel Jochna’ will start at the end of next month and will continue till the last week of July.
