Popular small screen actor Oliul Haque Rumi passed away. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the capital on Monday (April 22). Waliul Haque Rumi’s death was confirmed by his niece Faisal Ahmed. Apart from this, actor Ziaul Farooq Apurba has informed about Rumi’s death on his verified Facebook page. Oliul Haque Rumi was suffering from colon cancer for a long time. Go to Chennai, India for treatment. After returning home from there, the actor was undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital. Rumi mostly acts in the regional language of Barisal. It is in this language that the audience laughs and cries. Aliul Haque Rumi was also associated with journalism. He was associated with the country’s traditional national newspaper ‘Dainik Ittefaq’. Rumi started acting in 1988 with the drama ‘Ekhon Kritdas’. Apart from television, he also acted in films. In 2009, he made his debut on the big screen by acting in the film ‘Daria Parder Daulati’. Rumi’s notable dramas are – ‘Dhaka to Barisal’, ‘American Saheb’, ‘Journey by Bus’, ‘Bakier Naam Ghapi’, ‘Jamaj Series’, ‘Comedy 420’, ‘Chaita Pagal’, ‘Jeevaner Ooligli’, ‘ Cloudy city’ etc. This actor was also seen in several dramas this Eid. Also acted in films. Currently, a popular serial called ‘Bakulpur’ starring him is being aired on Deepta TV. Rumi was born in Barguna. His father was a brave freedom fighter Azizul Haque. Mother Hamida Haque. Rumi was the youngest among three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife and two children.
