US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken made a surprise appearance in Ukraine’s capital Kiev on Thursday. First he went to a children’s hospital. Then met with President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Before coming to Kiev, the US Secretary of State announced $2.2 billion in arms aid to 18 allied countries, including Ukraine. The aid package was announced as part of a long-term plan.

This money will be given as loans to Ukraine and 18 other countries. With which US weapons will be purchased.

Before Binken announced the aid, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced another $675 million in new aid to Ukraine. These will be used to purchase Hummers and other high-capacity weapons for Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, called Blinken’s visit an ‘important signal’. This is an important indication that the United States is on our side, he said. For us it is a guarantee that we can get our territory and land back.
