IsraIran-backed Lebanese armed group Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the attack on the key port city of Acre. The group launched a drone attack on an Israeli military base north of the city on Tuesday (April 23). They claim that this is their most successful attack on Israeli territory since the Gaza war. British news agency Reuters reported this news.

However, the Israeli military says it has not received any information that Hezbollah has attacked Israeli installations. However, on Tuesday (April 23) morning, they reported that they intercepted two drones on Israel’s northern coast.

Hezbollah said the attack was in retaliation for the killing of one of its fighters in an Israeli strike. However, they did not give details about the casualties or damage in the attack.

The group released a satellite image of the site of the attack. The image shows a flash mark between northern Acre and Naharia, surrounded by a red circle.

Earlier, the Israeli military reported killing two Hezbollah fighters in southern Lebanon in an Israeli airstrike on Tuesday. Later Hezbollah confirmed the death of a fighter named Hussain Azkoul. However, the group did not give any details about this.

Israeli strikes have killed around 270 Hezbollah fighters and around 50 civilians since the Gaza war began on October 7. Meanwhile, rocket and drone attacks by Hezbollah also killed about a dozen Israeli soldiers and several civilians. Thousands of people on both sides were displaced due to the shelling.
