Finally Mittal conflict, Jadavpur University got a permanent vice-chancellor

Ramen Das: Finally the conflict was resolved. Jadavpur University got the Vice Chancellorship. Professor Bhaskar Gupta (JU) of Department of Electronic Telecommunication was appointed as Vice-Chancellor by Governor and Acharya CV Anand Bose.

Bhaskarbabu is a former student of that university. He has been teaching in the Department of Electronic Telecommunications for a long time. It is also said to be very popular among students. He was also the Chairman of the State Joint Entrance Board. According to university sources, he is known as a professor close to Trinamool. After being appointed as the permanent vice-chancellor of the university where he was a student, Bhaskarbabu told Sanbad Pratid Digital, “I have joined the university as acting vice-chancellor. The state government sent my name. Hon’ble Acharya means the governor approved my name. It feels good. My own university. I studied here. This is my house after all.

Incidentally, Jadavpur University does not leave the controversy behind. Hence, there are several challenges ahead of the new vice-chancellor. In this context, Bhaskarbabu said, “I don’t think there will be a challenge! It is true that there are multiple problems. But since it is my own place, I don’t think it will be a problem to solve it from that side.”

Previously Budhhadeb Sau was handling the responsibility of the university as acting vice-chancellor. He is also embroiled in controversy. About his predecessor, the professor of electronic telecommunication department said, “I will focus on my own work. Students, teachers and staff are all known to me. So, I expect them to help me in everything.” But he is known as close to the grassroots! Will it be difficult to handle the responsibility with that title? In response, Bhaskar Gupta bluntly replied, “I don’t care who told me about joining Trinamool (TMC).”
