News Daily Digital Desk: BJP got its first taste of victory in the Lok Sabha elections before entering the fray. Gerua camp won unopposed in Gujarat’s Surat seat. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel made this information public on Monday. It is known that the nomination of the main rival Congress in Surat center has been cancelled. After that, other contenders also withdrew their nomination papers here. As a result, Modi-Shahra opened the account of first victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as there was no rival.

The first round of elections has just ended. On April 26, polling was scheduled for 88 Lok Sabha seats in 13 states in Gujarat’s Surat constituency. The main fight in this center was between BJP candidate Mukesh Dalal and Congress candidate Nilesh Kumbhani. BSP’s Pyarelal Bharti also became a candidate. Congress candidate Nilesh Kumbhani’s affidavit was rejected on Sunday during the scrutiny of nomination papers. After that, on the last day of withdrawal of nomination papers, the remaining 8 candidates of this center withdrew their nomination papers. Pyarelal Bharti was also in this list. As a result, BJP’s Mukesh Dalal won unopposed at the last minute.

Gujarat Chief Minister congratulates Mukesh Dalal after BJP’s first win in Lok Sabha polls: “Congratulations and best wishes to Surat Lok Sabha candidate Shri Mukeshbhai Dalal for getting elected unopposed,” he wrote on the X handle. Regarding the cancellation of the nomination papers of Congress candidate Nilesh Kumbhani, it is known from the commission sources that the names and signatures of 3 proposers are required in the nomination papers. Those whose names and signatures appeared on the nomination papers of the Congress candidates alleged that the signatures were forged. Electoral officer Saurabh Pardhi said that the nomination papers were canceled only after discrepancies in the signatures of the proposers were revealed in the initial scrutiny.
