Jhelum Karanjai, Kolkata: The temperature is gradually increasing. As the mercury rises, the humidity rises, all in all, it’s chilly throughout the day. There is no relief. In this situation, a red alert has been issued in Panchzilla of South Bengal. A yellow alert has been issued in Kolkata.

According to the Meteorological Department, the heat wave will continue till Sunday in many districts including Kolkata. On Monday-Tuesday there is a possibility of light rain in Midinipur and Jhargram.

Kolkata’s temperature has crossed 40 degrees in April. According to the Alipur Meteorological Department, the highest temperature in the city was Dum Dum on Saturday. There the mercury touched 42 degree room. 5.9 degrees above normal. The highest temperature in the district was Panagarh 45.1. 8.3 degrees above normal. The maximum temperature in Bankura was 44.6 degrees Celsius. 6.6 degrees above normal. Kalaikunda temperature was 43.6. 6.7 more than normal.

The mercury was above 42 degrees yesterday in 8 districts of South Bengal. Extreme heatwave warning is in place today and tomorrow in East and West Medinipur, Jhargram, Bankura, West Burdwan and Birbhum districts. Heat wave will continue till Monday in all districts of South Bengal. Meanwhile, there is a possibility of rain with thunder in 10 districts of South Bengal on Monday and Tuesday. A gust of wind will blow with it. Few districts of North Bengal may get drenched with rain.

According to the forecast, the heat wave will continue till Sunday in Kolkata, Dui Medinipur, Bankura, Birbhum, Jhargram. There will be heat wave conditions in several districts of South Bengal. For now there is no chance of rain in the southern districts including Kolkata. But the situation may change a little from Monday.

There is a possibility of light rain in Midinipur and Jhargram on Monday and Tuesday. The rest of the districts of North Bengal including Darjeeling, Kalimpong may receive scattered rains.

Meanwhile, to deal with the situation, all government hospitals and medical colleges in the state have been advised to reserve two beds each for heat stroke patients in the emergency department, medicine department.
