South Korea hires part-time workers for jobs such as dry processing, vegetable gardening and marketing, and piggery. Workers are now going to these sectors from some countries including Sri Lanka, Nepal, Vietnam, China, Philippines, India. Last year, the private recruiting agency KM International received a request to send more than two thousand workers. They collect passports of 700 workers from interested workers. After verifying the validity of the demand letter of 80 workers in two rounds, the labor wing of Bangladesh Embassy of Korea sent a letter to the ministry confirming it. Based on this, the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare gave permission to send workers. However, the Korean Embassy did not issue any worker visas. Because the employee’s appointment letter was for 90 days. In this case, they need a C-4-5 visa. It’s only for three months, which Korea doesn’t give anyone when it comes to recruiting. Korea approves E-8 visa for part-time workers. An employee gets an opportunity to work for eight months. But for this visa, there must be an agreement with the local government department of the country.

Mikon Tangchangya, First Secretary (Labor) of Bangladesh Embassy in Korea, regarding verification of worker’s demand letter Prothom-aloWho said, they have visited the employer’s establishment on the ground. Checked all the documents and verified the demand letter. Did not verify the visa issue. An E-8 visa is required to send workers. For this, the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare has to sign a memorandum of understanding with the local government department of Korea. Now the ministry is working on it.
