Three journalists were killed in southern Lebanon by Israeli bombardment, the country’s media reported. The incident occurred amid ongoing tensions along Israel’s northern border.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency said Tuesday that enemy bombs killed three people in the Taer Harfa region. The place is located about 1.6 kilometers from the Israeli border.

Lebanese channel Al Mayadin TV says two of the dead are its workers. And the third worked as a local journalist and channel contributor.

Al Mayadin said in a statement that correspondent Farah Omar and cameraperson Rabih Me’mari were killed in the Israeli attack.

Ghassan bin Jiddo, director of Al Mayadeen, said it was a direct attack. This attack did not happen by chance.

Al Jazeera’s Zeina Khodr said from southern Lebanon that a reporter and a cameraman were killed in an Israeli attack in southern Lebanon. A third person was killed with them.

He said that the Israeli army wants the media to be silent. They (army) want to punish journalists.

Israel blacklisted Al Mayadeen TV last week.

Israel’s Communications Minister Sholom Karhi said on October 13 that he had begun work to block al-Mayadeen’s website and shut down local offices.
