After the war between Israel and Hamas, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that he would take responsibility for the security of the besieged Gaza Strip indefinitely. The US has sought an explanation of what he actually meant by the term.
The issue of the US demand for an explanation from Netanyahu was first brought up by the Israeli state media. Then another US official confirmed the matter to the Times of Israel.
In addition, the administration of US President Joe Biden wants to hand over Gaza to the Palestinian Authority of Mahmoud Abbas at the end of the war. However, Netanyahu also opposed this proposal of the United States. Netanyahu indicated on Saturday night that Israel would oppose the return of the Palestinian Authority to Gaza after the war. He said the Palestinian Authority is an institution that teaches Israel extermination, supports terrorism and has not even condemned the October 7 attack by Hamas.
Earlier last Friday, Netanyahu said that even after the end of the war, the Israeli army will keep control of Gaza. Do not rely on international forces for security oversight.
Before that, in an interview given to ABC News last week, Netanyahu said that after the end of the war against Hamas, Israel will take responsibility for the overall security of Gaza indefinitely.
