The Israelis are saving the sperm of the soldiers killed in the bloody war with Hamas. Collecting semen from corpses is legal in Israel. If a wife wants to collect her husband’s semen, she can do so easily.
However, if a parent wants to collect the sperm of their dead son, they have to get permission from the family court.
Israeli media Haaretz Times reported on Thursday (November 9) that the requirement for permission from the family court has been temporarily relaxed. And to relax the matter, many Israelis are saving the sperm of their dead sons or husbands.
According to Haaretz, the sperm of 33 soldiers and 4 Israeli civilians was collected last month.
Israel’s Ministry of Health created a special unit after the war with Hamas. The unit is working 24 hours a day with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and four hospitals.
Whenever an Israeli soldier is killed, the unit notifies his wife or family — they can leave the dead soldier’s sperm to create future generations if they want.
If someone dies – semen must be stored within 24 hours from the time of death. It is then applied to the ovaries. However, an Israeli doctor said that even after a few days of death, sperm can be stored and used.
