A panchayat member of the BJP and his entourage were accused of breaking into the house of the former Trinamool deputy chief and beating him up. The political uproar over this incident is in Ratantola area of Dharampur village panchayat of Manikchak in Malda. The Trinamool leader is undergoing treatment at Manikchak Rural Hospital with serious injuries. The police have already started investigating the incident.
Balai Saha, the husband of the victimized leader, alleged that they were being threatened since the time of the panchayat polls. BJP’s outrage was on their family. Even if the BJP wins the panchayat there, they will be evicted from their homes. Balai said that his wife was alone at home on Sunday. Bhaskar Mandal, a BJP member of Achamka Gram Panchayat, barged into his house with his team. His wife was stripped and beaten. Balai alleged that his wife was beaten on the street when she tried to escape to protect herself.
The Trinamool leader was lying on the road for some time with severe injuries. The family members got the news and rescued him and admitted him to Manikchak Rural Hospital. Following this, the family of the former Trinamool deputy chief filed a complaint at the Manikchak police station against the accused BJP member and his team.
However, the BJP has claimed that the whole incident was staged. Malda district BJP general secretary Gaurachandra Mandal said, “All the allegations are false. Instead, various threats and pressure are coming on the people of BJP.”

Regarding this incident, the police of Manikchak police station said that an investigation has been started based on the complaint. Legal action will be taken against the accused.
