Actor Mir Sabbir is coming down from the stage. Presenter Israt Payal called him from behind. After returning, Payal said, ‘I want to hear a dialogue of a play in the regional language of Barisal.’ Taking the microphone, Mir Sabbir said – ‘I do not remember the dialogues of the drama.’ After taking some time, the actor addressed Payal in the local language of Barisal and said, ‘Ei Matari tumi erham udala gaaye achho kier laigya.’
Payal started laughing immediately after this dialogue. The guests sitting in front of the stage also laughed in unison. Such a scene can be seen in a video clip that has gone viral on social media. Even though the matter was laughed off on the stage, Payal objected to this dialogue of Mir Sabbir. Payal called Mir Sabbir’s dialogue ‘ugly’ in a video message.
In this video, Payal said-“Last November 11 was the grand finale of ‘Mrs. Universe 2022’. I was hosting that show. There were many learned scholars in the judge’s chair of that stage. One of them was Mir Sabbir’s brother. At one point I called him on stage to share something from the judge’s place. After coming on the stage, he talked about various topics. He basically made this comment at the end.
Payal felt that such a comment on a platform of international standards was very sad. In his words – ‘On this international stage, the contestants walked the ramp in western wear. I also conducted the program in western outfit. And such comments are not acceptable on that stage. I don’t understand whether he understood, or said it out of excitement! Whatever he said, he could have said sorry to me at least once.’
Urging Mir Sabbir to apologise, Payal said – ‘Mir Sabbir brother, if you have seen this video of mine, clear the matter. If you object to women’s clothing, you can apply it to your family. One should not touch other people’s clothes.’
