The Russian currency, the ruble, has strengthened significantly against the US dollar. Recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced the deployment of troops in the occupied territories of Ukraine. This caused the ruble to fall against the dollar. That was the lowest since last July.

On that day, the value of the Russian currency increased by 0.7 percent. Each dollar was sold at 60.30 rubles.
The Russian currency also strengthened against other major international currencies. The ruble also strengthened against the euro, the main currency of the European Union (EU). The Russian currency increased by 1.45 percent. Sold at 59.30 rubles per euro.
The value of the Russian currency has increased by 1.4 percent against the Chinese currency, the yuan. Each yuan sold at 8.460 rubles.
Exports of Russia’s main commodity, the international benchmark fuel oil, Brent crude, rose by 0.98 percent. Each barrel was sold at 90.73 dollars. The Russian stock market has also strengthened.
