Jessore: A rickshaw driver named Alam Mandal (35) in Jessore was beaten to death by the opponents. The incident took place in Chatiantala village of Churamankathi union of Sadar upazila on Friday (September 23) afternoon.
The original home of deceased Alam Mandal is in Sultanpur village of Kumarkhali upazila in Kushtia. He lived in a rented house in Chatiantala village of Jessore Sadar Upazila for a long time. Politically, he was a follower of Abdul Mannan Munna, the former chairman of the local Churamankati Union.
However, it has been alleged that the current chairman Daud Hossain Dafadar’s people killed him due to a dispute over local supremacy.
Jessore Kotyali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tajul Islam told BanglaNews that the incident of Alam Mandal’s murder occurred due to a dispute between the followers of Churamankati Union’s current chairman Daud Hossain and former chairman Abdul Mannan Munnar. Daud Hossain’s men beat Alam to death. Police are active in arresting those involved in the murder.
The victim’s son Imran Hossain said that the terrorists of Chatiantala area called Alam Mandal and took him away. Then 15/16 terrorists took him to Kazi’s garden and beat him to death. With a gupti (a narrow sword hidden in a hollow stick) he pierced his ankle with multiple blows and broke his leg by beating it with a hammer.
Imran Hussain went to Kazi’s garden to find his father after hearing the news. There he found his father lying with broken arms and legs. He (Alam Mandal) was rescued and taken to Jessore 250 Bed General Hospital. The doctor on duty declared him dead.
Shubashis Roy, a doctor in the hospital’s emergency department, said that he (Alam) died due to injuries caused by the assault. Both his legs are broken.
In this regard, it was not possible to speak because the mobile phone used by Chairman of Churamankati Union Parishad Daud Hossain Dafadar was switched off.
