Jhulan Goswami: The Cricket Association Of Bengal CAB Initiates To Telecast Jhulan’s Last International Match Live At Multiplex

Kolkata: Legends like Sourav Ganguly say, he is an inspiration to all. Role model. Seeing him, many young women of the country think of coming to cricket.

Women’s cricket legend Jhulan Goswami will play her last match in international cricket on Saturday. India’s third ODI against England at Lord’s will be the last match of Jhulan’s career. Chakdah Express is retiring after playing this match.

And CAB took a novel initiative to make that match more memorable. Bengal Cricket’s governing body has arranged to telecast live the last international match of Jhulan’s career on Saturday at the city’s renowned multiplex. According to CAB, the India vs England match will be shown live on the big screen from 2.30 pm on Saturday at the Inox Forum, Elgin Road.

India has already won the ODI series against England. Saturday’s match is virtually regulation. However, the stars of the Indian women’s cricket team are emotional at Lord’s as the final match of the season. Commenting on Jhulan’s contribution to women’s cricket, captain Harmanpreet Kaur said, “We learned a lot from Jhulan. He was the captain during my debut. I have learned a lot from him since then. Now young bowlers like Renuka Singh, Meghna Singh are realizing the impact of being in Jhulandi’s dressing room. They can learn from Jhulandi how he bowls and maintains rhythm throughout the match. An inspiration to each of us.”

Example of memory

Indian Women’s Cricket Team won the series against England by winning the second ODI. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur played an unbeaten innings of 143 runs in the match. However, in the same match, Smriti Mandhana, the vice-captain of the Indian team, made a great record in her name.

He came down to open the day-night match on Wednesday and scored 40 runs off 51 balls. His innings consisted of four fours and a six. Due to this innings, Smriti became only the third Indian woman cricketer to cross the 3000 run mark in ODI cricket. Earlier, only the legendary Mithali Raj and current Indian captain Harmanpreet have scored more than 3000 ODI runs for the Indian women’s team. However, Smriti reached this milestone in less time than both Mithali and Harman.
