The police recovered around 11 kg of gold from a car at 4 am today. 4 people have already been arrested in this incident. Sometimes from a border area, sometimes from a businessman’s flat in a corruption case, gold worth crores of rupees is recovered. Keeping that trend, about 11 kg of gold was recovered from Belgharia Expressway today, which is worth Tk 55 crore in the current market.
According to police sources, they had advance information that day that gold may be smuggled through Belgharia Expressway. The Belgharia police carried out strict patrolling and after that they detained a Maruti Alto car at 4 am.
According to the sources, after impounding the vehicle, the police recovered 11 kg of gold from a bag. It is reported that 4 people have already been arrested in this incident. Naturally, the question has started to arise that where this huge amount of gold was being smuggled or who is the main conspirator behind it? According to police sources, the vehicle was heading towards Medinipur via BT Road. But in the end, the accused did not succeed in their purpose.
Regarding this incident, police officer Ajay Prasad said, “Gold was being illegally transported in a vehicle through the Belgharia Expressway. Four people present in the car have been arrested. In this case, the arrested persons are being interrogated to know where the gold was brought from, where it was being taken and who is the main conspirator behind it.”
