The two-day mayor’s conference is starting today in Cox’s Bazar

A two-day mayor’s conference is starting today in Cox’s Bazar with the aim of creating an action plan to build a healthy city. It is said that 19 mayors from all over the country including the mayor of Rangpur City Corporation and some important secretaries of the government will be present. Besides, the local government minister is scheduled to join the conference virtually.

Besides, three senior officials of the government, representatives of the World Health Organization and civil society representatives will participate in the conference.
The conference was organized in a star hotel on Friday evening.

This summit is going to be held for the first time in Bangladesh. Which is being held in the joint initiative of International Organization The Union Technical Cooperation, Cox’s Bazar Municipality, Dhamrai Municipality and Aid Foundation.

Rangpur City Corporation Mayor Mostafizur Rahman will inaugurate the conference which will be held with the overall cooperation and coordination of Cox’s Bazar Municipality Mayor Mujibur Rahman.

One such conference was held in Singapore in 2018. There, “Mayor Alliance for Healthy City” was formed by some mayors and parliamentarians of Bangladesh. Through which the mayors expressed their commitment to work together with their respective institutions to control non-communicable diseases in Bangladesh. This conference is being held in Cox’s Bazar.
