Two diving teams of the fire station recovered the bodies of three people, including uncle-nephew, who went missing in the Brahmaputra river after the engine-driven dinghy sank while visiting the boat.

On Wednesday morning, their bodies were recovered from three separate places in Brahmaputra river in Panchbagh union under Pagla police station of Gafargaon upazila.

Local UP member (Member) Abdul Malek confirmed the recovery of the bodies and said that Sifat (17) from Gavishimul Bazar area of ​​Panchbagh Union under Pagla Thana of Gafargaon, Shishu Yashin (7) from Charsakhchuda Matarbari area and Shamim Miar from Lamkain Dargahtali area around 8:30 am on Wednesday morning. (30) bodies were recovered. The deceased Sifat is the son of Abdus Chamad of Charshakhchura (Ujanchar) village of Gafargaon and Yachin is the son of Monir Hossain of the same village. They are both cousins. Also Shamim Mia son of Kitab Ali of Tarapasha village of Sidla Union of Hossainpur.

Meanwhile, on the news of the recovery of the body, people including the relatives of the deceased rushed to the spot. At that time, members of Pagla and Hossainpur police stations of Gafargaon were present.

Incidentally, on Monday (September 19), before the boat sank, the boat was moving from Nakkata Char of Gafargaon Upazila to Saheber Char of Hossainpur Upazila. Sidla Union Awami League of Hossainpur Upazila organizes this boat race called ‘Sheikh Russell Boat Race’. Thousands of people gather on both sides of the river to see this boat. Many visitors were enjoying boat rides in different types of boats. While sailing in groups of four, one of Baich’s boats collided with an engine-powered dinghy behind the Baich’s finishing point. An engine-driven dinghy boat carrying 20-25 children and teenagers sank.

Kishoreganj fire station diver team leader Aminur Rahman said, the next day after the incident, two teams of Kishoreganj and Hossainpur fire stations tried all day and could not find the missing persons. We recovered the body after it floated on Wednesday morning.
