Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has been accused of treason for discussing who will be the next army chief of Pakistan with his elder brother Nawaz Sharif. This information has been given in a report of Indian news agency Press Trust of India citing various Pakistani media.
According to the report, Punjab Parliamentary Affairs Minister Basharat Raja moved a resolution against the Prime Minister in the provincial legislature session on Monday.
It is said that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has discussed and consulted with his elder brother Nawaz Sharif about which army officer will be appointed as the head of Pakistan’s military. We came to know that Nawaz-Shahbaz had this discussion in London two days ago. A majority of members of the Punjab Legislative Assembly voted in favor of this resolution.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan went to the UK a few days ago to attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. It is said that he met his elder brother Nawaz Sharif there.
Pakistan’s three-time prime minister, Nawaz Sharif, has been accused and convicted of massive corruption. He is exiled from national politics due to proven corruption charges and is currently living as a fugitive abroad to avoid court punishment.
