238 voluntary organizations from 75 countries submitted a report to the United Nations saying that one person dies every 4 seconds due to lack of food alone. They released this report at the 77th General Assembly of the United Nations.

Volunteers report that 19,700 people die of hunger every day. Right now, 34.5 million people in the world are suffering from severe food insecurity. Another 50 million residents of 45 countries stand on the edge of the abyss. Especially since 2019, the number of people suffering from food insecurity has almost doubled. Twenty-first century political leaders have promised that the world will never see famine again.

“This is not a problem of a country or a continent,” said Mohana Ahmed Ali Eljabali, head of a voluntary organization in Yemen. Famine is not caused by any one thing. Injustice to humanity is the real reason for this. While one group of people is busy organizing abundance, the other group does not even have food to save their lives. Save lives with food.”

Meanwhile, experts say that if the root of the problem is found, there are a thousand reasons for food shortages. Poverty, social injustice, gender inequality, impact of climate change on agriculture as well as recent factors such as pandemics, Russia-Ukraine war are significant. Due to economic reasons such as inflation, the prices of daily commodities are increasing. As a result, the crisis is increasing.
