The leader of Narail’s Svechchasevak Dal in the case of digital security law on allegations of ugly comments on his Facebook account about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Tariqul Islam’s bail has been suspended by the Chamber Court of the Appellate Division.
Appellate Division Chamber Justice M Inayetur Rahim gave this order on Wednesday on the plea of the state party. Additional Attorney General SM Munir and Assistant Attorney General Md. Saiful Alam heard the application in the court.
Later, the Assistant Attorney General told Kal Kantha, “The chamber court suspended the bail for eight weeks.
In the meantime, if a copy of the order is received, leave to appeal will be applied to extend the period of suspension. ‘
Talking about the global situation, on August 5, the government announced an increase in the prices of all types of fuel, including diesel and petrol. At that time, the price of diesel and kerosene was increased by about 42 percent from Tk 80 to Tk 114 per litre. The day after the announcement, on August 6, Tariqul posted a video of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s speech on the price hike on his Facebook account and captioned the video with a nasty comment.
After the post came to notice, Narail Sadar Upazila Chhatra League President Akash Ghosh Rahul filed a case against Tariqul Islam at Lohagra police station on August 8 under the Digital Security Act. On that day, the police arrested Tarikul from the village house. Tariqul is the son of deceased Kazi Abdul Mannan of Shalnagar village of Sadar upazila. He is the number one joint convener of Lohagarh Upazila Swachhasevak Dal.
In this case, Tariqul applied for bail in the High Court if the lower court did not grant bail. The High Court granted him bail on Tuesday. The chamber court suspended the bail on the plea of the state party.
