The bodies of three people who went missing in the boat sinking while watching the boating competition in the Brahmaputra River in Kishoreganj’s Hossainpur have been recovered.

Their bodies were recovered from separate places adjacent to Khurshid Mahal Bridge on Wednesday (September 21) morning.

The deceased are Yasin (7), son of Monir Hossain of Charshankchura village of Gafargaon upazila of neighboring Mymensingh district, Sifat (13) son of Rahat Mia of the same village and Shamim (32) of Tarapasha village of Hossainpur upazila.

Among them, Sifat and Yasin are uncles and nephews and deceased Shamim was supposed to leave the country on September 25 to go to Oman for a job abroad.

It is known that a boating competition was held in the presence of millions of people on the banks of the Brahmaputra river in Saheber Char village of Sidla Union of Hossainpur Upazila of Kishoreganj on Monday.

While enjoying boating in a small boat, the boat collided with a boat and the three disappeared.

After receiving the news that these three people were missing in the boat sinking, a five-member diving team of fire service reached there from Kishoreganj and started the rescue operation. However, no one could be rescued till Tuesday evening. Then their bodies were recovered on Wednesday morning.

Hossainpur police station inspector Asaduzzaman Titu confirmed the recovery of three bodies to reporters.
