Movement cannot be suppressed by killings and attacks: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the movement cannot be suppressed in this country by killing and attacking. People of Bangladesh have always stood up against injustice. They are still waking up today.

Regarding Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s interview given to BBC in London, he said, the Prime Minister said that during the Awami League period, the elections are the most fair and beautiful. Hearing his (Prime Minister’s) words… even horses will laugh.

He said these things in a rally in front of Jordpukur ground in Khilgaon of the capital on Tuesday (September 20) afternoon.

BNP’s Dhaka Metropolitan Zone-2 Khilgaon, Sabuj Bagh and Mugda Police Stations jointly organized this rally to protest the increase in the price of fuel, essential commodities and the terrorist attacks across the country including the killing of Nur Alam, Abdur Rahim and Shaon Pradhan in Bhola.

Mirza Fakhrul said in the rally that Hasina is not here today. He has gone far away from the people of Bangladesh. Today is not talk, time is work. The people of the country should be united. The government has seized power by force. Destroyed all our achievements.

On this day, activists from Khilgaon, Sabuj Bagh and Mugda areas took part in the rally with placards containing pictures of party chairperson Khaleda Zia and acting chairman Tarek Rahman.

BNP Secretary General said, mega corruption is going on today in the name of mega project. Millions of rupees are being smuggled. Building houses abroad. And our people are being killed in the country. We want to make it clear that Selima Rahman (Standing Committee Member) was hit to death, Barkat Ullah Bulu (Party Vice Chairman) was hit to death, Tabith Awal (Executive Committee Member) was hit to death, Nur Alam in Vela, Abdur Rahim and Shaon in Narayanganj. The movement cannot be suppressed by killing the leader.

Reiterating the demand for the resignation of the government, he said, the resignation should be handed over to a neutral government, the parliament should be dissolved and acceptable elections should be held under a new caretaker government and a new election commission. The government will be formed after the new parliament.

Mirza Fakhrul said to the party leaders and workers, let us unite for that goal. By uniting all political parties and people, we move forward and form a people’s government by bringing down Hasina’s government through the mass movement of Durbar.

BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas said in the rally, this country is not the kingdom of any father. Independence has been achieved with the blood of the people of the country. I want to make it clear that if any attack is made on us from now on, our workers will be ready to retaliate. We will resist attacks from now on, remove terrorism – this is today’s oath.
