New Delhi, September 20: Rahul Gandhi is not contesting for the post of Congress president. This is the news according to Congress sources. Now Rahul is busy in India Jodo Yatra in Kerala. This journey will enter Karnataka on September 29. It is very unlikely that Rahul will leave Karnataka and return to Delhi to contest for the post of party president. The last date for submission of nominations for the election of Congress President is September 30.
Rahul is considered unlikely to submit his nomination. However, the state Congress leadership of states like Jharkhand, Kerala has unanimously proposed Rahul as the president. Kerala MP-leader Shashi Tharoor has already submitted his nomination for the post of Congress president. If Rahul does not contest, Rajasthan Chief Minister and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot can stand for the post of president. Incidentally, the notification regarding the Congress elections will be issued on September 22.
