The hanged body of a youth named Tariqul Islam has been recovered three days after he went missing from Kabilnagar village in Alamdanga. His body was recovered from under a tree in the village field on Friday (September 09) evening.
The deceased Tariqul Islam is the son of Shahjahan Ali of Kuthipara of Tirabila village. A month ago, Tarikul got married in Shambhunagar village of Chuadanga Sadar Upazila.
According to the sources of the deceased’s family, after the marriage, Tariqul with the bride went to his in-laws’ home last week to bring his wife after completing the formalities at his house and in-laws’ house. At this time, the bride made it clear that she would not live with Tarikul again. Tarikul returned home with great distress.
Tarikul went missing after returning home last Wednesday (September 7). No trace of him could be found despite searching all possible places. Later on Friday afternoon, the farmers found Tarikul’s body hanging in a small garden in the field of Tiorbila. Then the police was informed.
The police and witnesses said that sometime last Wednesday, Tarikul committed suicide by twisting a jute fiber around his neck and hanging himself from the branch of the Tetul tree. It was not seen by anyone for three days as there was no traffic in the garden. Later on Friday afternoon, farmers in the field found Tarikul’s body lying under a tree.
Eyewitnesses said that Tarikul committed suicide by collecting jute fiber from the field and hanging it around his neck. Within three days the scales were torn and the body fell down.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Anisuzzaman told reporters that Tariqul committed suicide due to a misunderstanding in his marital life. A case of wrongful death has been filed in Alamdanga police station in this regard.
