Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered the body of a Bangladeshi youth named Tushar Khan (35) from the Indian border in Brahmanpara area of Comilla.

The body was recovered from Rahimpur area of the upazila on Friday (September 9) afternoon.

Shasidal BOP BGB Commander Naib Subedar Abdul Khalek confirmed this information.

The BGB and locals said that an Indian citizen on his way home after offering Fajr prayers saw an unidentified young man lying on the border and informed the imam of the mosque. Later the locals informed the matter to BGB.

On receiving the news, members of Shasidal BOP of BGB went to the spot and saw the young man lying on the Indian side. BSF also reached the spot after receiving the information. At that time, BGB-BSF held round-by-round discussions to confirm the nationality of the unidentified youth. Due to lack of agreement between BGB and BSF, it was not possible to bring the youth to Bangladesh on time.

The young man’s mother-in-law Asma Begum said that my husband is under treatment at Comilla Sadar Hospital. Tushar came to the hospital on Wednesday morning to see my husband. From there Tushar came to our house in Shasidal area at 10 am. Since then, there has been no trace of him. We searched various areas including Shasidal railway station but did not find him. Later I saw his picture on Facebook and confirmed that he is my brother’s son. Later the matter was reported to BGB.

Dr. Kazi Tanveer Absal, Medical Officer of Brahmanpara Upazila Health Complex, said that he came to the spot at quarter past 4 in the afternoon and found him dead after preliminary examination. Injuries were found in various parts of the deceased’s body.

Naib Subedar Abdul Khalek, BGB Commander of Shasidal BOP, said that he came to the scene after getting information at 6 am. At this time, I saw a young man lying unconscious with serious injuries.

Mohammad Ekramul Haque, Inspector (Investigation) of Brahmanpara Police Station said, BGB handed over the body to us after getting the information. Later, the body was sent to Comilla Medical College (KUMEC) Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
