Reduced price of onion, increased price of eggs – Live Narayanganj

Live Narayanganj: Egg prices have increased again in the city markets within a week. The price of eggs increased by 10 rupees per dozen. However, despite the increase in the price of eggs, the price of onion has decreased slightly. The price of onion has decreased by 5 rupees per kg. The prices of eggs and onions have changed during the week, but the price of chicken has remained unchanged. Along with that, the prices of most vegetables are also unchanged. Besides, the price of fish has not changed much. Vegetables, fish, chicken are being sold at high prices as before.

On Friday (September 9), various markets in the capital were visited, most of the traders were selling a dozen of eggs for Tk 130. A dozen eggs were Rs 120 a week ago.

Regarding the increase in the price of eggs, Sabur Ali, a trader at Digu Babur Bazar, said that a dozen of eggs cost Tk 160. At that time the demand for eggs decreases. Due to which the price decreased by 120 rupees. But now the demand for eggs has increased again. Due to this, the price is increasing.

A trader in Kali market said that he sold a dozen eggs for Tk 120 last week. But for two or three days, the wholesale price of eggs is higher. We believe that the price of eggs has increased due to the increase in sales. However, the price of eggs is more likely not to increase.

Meanwhile, despite the increase in the price of eggs, the price of onion has decreased. Retail traders are selling desi onions for 40 to 45 rupees per kg. A week ago, onion was Tk 45 to Tk 50 per kg. And onion is being sold at Tk 30 per kg in wholesale. A week ago, wholesale onions were above Tk 35 per kg.

Digu Babur market trader Raju Mia said that the supply of onion has increased in the market. Due to this, the price has decreased.

A few days ago, the price of raw chili increased to Tk 200 per kg. But last week, the price of green chillies dropped to Tk 40 per kg. There was no change in the price of green chillies during the week. Like last week, most of the traders are selling one poa (250 grams) of green chillies at Tk 15. And one kg of raw chili is selling for 40 to 50 taka.

Along with green chillies, the price of chicken remains unchanged. Most traders are selling broiler chicken at Tk 180 per kg. Broiler chicken rose to Tk 200 per kg after fuel oil price hike. However, broiler chicken is being sold at Tk 180 per kg for several weeks.

Along with broiler chickens, the prices of Pakistani cocks or golden chickens remain unchanged. A kg of golden chicken is being sold at Tk 280 to Tk 300. Sonani chicken is sold at Tk 300 to Tk 320 per kg after increasing the price of fuel oil.

Beans and cauliflower are available as new vegetables in the market for about a month. But it does not give relief to the buyers. These two vegetables are being sold at high prices. Besides, the price of other vegetables is also quite high.

As before, beans are being sold at the highest price in the market. Beans which were sold at Tk 150 to Tk 160 last week are now Tk 120 to Tk 140 per kg. While the prices of beans fell slightly, the prices of ripe tomatoes, carrots and turnips remained unchanged. A kg of ripe tomatoes is being sold for Tk 100 to Tk 130. Carrots are being sold at Tk 120 to Tk 130 per kg. Barab is selling for 70 to 80 taka per kg.

Besides these expensive vegetables, brinjal is being sold at Tk 50 to Tk 70 per kg, kankarol at Tk 50 to Tk 70 per kg, raw papaya at Tk 20 to Tk 25 per kg, potal at Tk 40 to Tk 50 per kg. Kachur lati, jinge, chichinga are being sold for 40 to 50 taka per kg. A kg of bitter gourd is being sold at 60 to 80 taka.

Regarding the price of vegetables, Mr. Digubabu market trader. Sharif Hossain said that there was no change in the price of vegetables during the week. Most vegetables are selling at last week’s prices. But it has been raining a lot for the past few days. So we think the prices of vegetables may increase a little in the future.

It has been seen in the fish market that a kg of roe fish is being sold at Tk 320 to Tk 450. Tilapia, pangas fish are selling for 160 to 200 taka per kg. A kg of horn fish is being sold at 350 to 460 Tk. A kg of fish is being sold at Tk 200 to Tk 250. A kg of Pabda fish is being sold for Tk 350 to Tk 500. There was no change in the price of these fish during the week.

Although the prices are unchanged, shrimp and hilsa are being sold at high prices. 800 to 1000 rupees per kg of shrimps are being sold. And one kilogram of hilsa is selling for 1500 to 1800 taka. A kg of hilsa weighing 700-800 grams is being sold at Tk 900 to Tk 1000. And a kg of 400-500 grams of hilsa is being sold at 700 to 800 taka.
