An Awami League leader was publicly shot dead by miscreants in Pabna Sadar Upazila. The killing took place at Char Bangabari village of Himaitpur Union on Friday (September 9) around 2:30 pm.

The name of the deceased is Sider Malitha (50). Advocate Taslim Hasan Sumon confirmed that he was a member of the executive committee of Pabna Municipal Awami League. Deceased Sayedur is the son of deceased Haran Malitha of Kabalipara, Hemayetpur. He was a solar panel trader by profession.

The family of the deceased, local residents said, was sitting with a few people at a tea shop at Nazur Mor while coming to the mosque just a few minutes before Friday prayers. Meanwhile, some miscreants surrounded them. His companions ran away but the miscreants shot him dead.

Pabna Superintendent of Police Akbar Ali Munshi confirmed this information and told Ittefaq that at the time of the incident, everyone was coming to the mosque for Friday prayers. At that time someone shot him and ran away. After receiving the information, the police reached the spot and are trying to find out the whole matter. After preparing the report, the body of the deceased will be sent to Pabna General Hospital Morgue.

He also said that initially the police believe that this incident may have happened due to a previous dispute. Police are on the scene. It is not possible to say more at the moment. Police are investigating the incident.
