Chittagong: The Civil Surgeon has written to the Doublemooring police station to take legal action against the owners and related parties in the death of two twin newborns due to lack of oxygen in the unregistered maternal care normal delivery center at Jharnapara under Dakshin Pahartali police station of the city.
Chittagong Civil Surgeon’s office said that this letter was sent on Thursday (September 8) to take legal action.
The accused are – Rain Rani Dey (33) and Nasreen Begum (39).
On Tuesday (September 6) at seven o’clock in the evening, the autotempo driver at the delivery center. Monir’s wife Lovely Begum gave birth to twin newborns. Monir complained that the newborns were detained because they could not pay the bill of 10,000 taka. The people of the area gathered and protested by their shouts. Meanwhile, a child died. Another person later died on the way to Chamek Hospital.
The civil surgeon’s letter mentions that the institution was found locked on Wednesday (September 7) after receiving the complaint. The accused could not show any certificate suitable for medical profession. Besides, the company was being run illegally.
