Before this, Neeraj Chopra participated twice in the Diamond League. In 2017, he ranked seventh in the Diamond League. He finished fourth in the Diamond League in 2018. After winning gold at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, Neerj won the diamond in the Diamond League this year. For winning this final, Neeraj received a diamond trophy and 30 thousand US dollars.

Neeraj did not perform well in the beginning of this day. Neeraj started with a foul at the Letzigrand Stadium in Zurich. But in the second attempt, Neeraj sent his javelin 88.44 meters away. This throw brought Neeraj the dream title. In the next four attempts, Neeraj threw his javelin at distances of 88.00m, 86.11m, 87.00m and 83.60m respectively. Czech Republic’s Jakub Vadlez, who won Olympic silver in the Diamond League final, finished second with a throw of 86.94m and Germany’s Julian Weber finished third with a throw of 83.73m.

Earlier, Neeraj could not play in the Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham due to a groin injury. He won silver at the World Athletics Championships held in the United States. Earlier, Neeraj had brought the country the second medal in the World Athletics Championships after Anju Bobby George.
