In Meherpur’s Gangni, a drug addict husband has been accused of murdering the wife who became the mother of a child after 5 years of love marriage.
The murder took place on Thursday (September 8) around 11 o’clock, said Golam Kibria, the father of the slain housewife.
Father Golam Kibria said that Ashikuzzaman Prince (25), son of Hashem Shah of Kathuli Mor Bazarpara, Gangni city, married his daughter Tasmeem Urmi (24) for love. In their married life, they have one son in a year. Prince is a hardware merchant in Gangni city. Recently, Prince returned home drunk after taking drugs. During an argument on the night of the incident, Prince strangled his wife Urmi to death. That night Urmi was taken to Gangni Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared her dead.
Prince claims that Urmi committed suicide by suffocating her father.
Meanwhile, Urmi’s body has been taken into custody by Gangni police station.
Gangni Police Station OC Abdur Razzak said that following the complaint of the deceased Urmi’s father, the body was recovered at night and taken to the police station. The deceased has injury marks in various places on his body and on his neck. Initially, it is believed that Urmi was killed by strangulation. The body of the deceased has been sent to Meherpur General Hospital morgue for post-mortem. After the post-mortem, it will be known whether it was murder or suicide and legal action will be taken later.
