The price of rice in the market has started to decrease. Importing large quantities of rice has had a positive impact on the market. Although the price of vegetables has decreased, the price of eggs has increased. The price of fish is still high.


This information was learned after visiting Karwan Bazar, Babubazar, Rampura Bazar and Joarsahara Bazar in the capital on Wednesday and talking to the traders.

It has been seen in the market that coarse rice Bri-28 and Payzam have reduced by four to five taka per kg and are being sold at taka 54 to taka 55 in a span of two weeks. Minikets are being sold for Tk 68 to Tk 72 in thin rice.

Import of 90 thousand 600 metric tons of rice

According to sources in the Ministry of Food, the government allowed the private import of 1 million metric tons of rice in a phased manner at the end of June. In this regard, the Senior Assistant Secretary (Foreign Procurement) of the Ministry of Food, Muhammad Mahbubur Rahman told Kal Kantha, ’90 thousand 600 metric tons of rice have been imported from India so far. ‘

Eggs increased by 10-15 rupees per dozen

Last week, eggs were priced at Tk 115 to Tk 120 per dozen in the retail market. The price has increased by 10 to 15 taka per dozen and now it is 130 to 135 taka. Retail egg traders say, ‘Wholesale eggs have to be sold at a higher price. ‘

The price of vegetables is decreasing

The price of raw chilli has fallen the most in a span of a few days. Raw chillies are retailing at Rs 60 to 80 per kg.

The price of fish is high

Fish is sold at high prices in the markets of the capital. Medium tilapia 180 to 200 taka per kg. Pangash is Rs 160 per kg and Rui is Rs 280 to Rs 300 per kg.
