The crown of the son of ‘gold’ is now ‘diamond’! Neerj has a unique history as the first Indian. Neeraj Chopra first Indian to win Diamond League Title

G24 Hour Digital Bureau: He will enter international events and write history. Neeraj Chopra has made this impossible task his routine. Javelin thrower who won the Olympic gold of the country once again flew the tricolor on the world stage. Panipat’s star athlete became the first Indian to win the Diamond League Final 2022 title in Zurich, Switzerland late on Thursday night when the countrymen were sleeping.
At the Letzigrand Stadium in Zurich, Neeraj started well with a foul, but on his second attempt Neeraj sent his javelin 88.44m (4th career best). This throw brought Neeraj the dream title. In the next four attempts, Neeraj threw his javelin at distances of 88.00m, 86.11m, 87.00m and 83.60m respectively. Czech Republic’s Jakub Vadlez, who won Olympic silver in the Diamond League final, finished second with a throw of 86.94m and Germany’s Julian Weber finished third with a throw of 83.73m.

Neeraj returned to the track after a long month of injury problems. A week ago, Neeraj was surprised when he landed in Lausanne of the Diamond League. He took the top spot with a javelin throw of 89.08m. Became the first Indian to win the meet title. Neeraj explained that this time he will return after writing history. In 2017 and 2018, Neeraj qualified for the finals of the event but finished seventh and fourth. Neeraj has fulfilled his elusive dream by winning the title.

Neeraj decided to pull out of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham due to a groin injury. After winning silver at the World Athletics Championships in the US, Neeraj said, ‘After the fourth throw, I felt uncomfortable in Thailand. I couldn’t throw it as hard as I wanted.’ Neeraj became the second Indian after Anju Bobby George to bring the country its second medal at the World Athletics Championships. In Paris in 2003, Anjou won bronze in the long jump. After 19 years, Neeraj surprised Anju by winning silver.

Exactly 13 years ago, Neeraj threw javelin and brought gold to the country in Tokyo Olympics. Neeraj’s ‘golden’ spear is now in the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland. This particular museum houses Neeraj’s javelin. Neeraj himself handed over his javelin to the museum authorities a few days ago. And Neeraj wrote history in the country of those Swiss.
