Even though the supply is fine, the price of broiler and country chicken has increased by Tk 10 per kg in a span of seven days. Besides, at the retail level, every dozen farm eggs were sold at a higher price of Tk 9-10.
Besides, all kinds of vegetables and fish were sold at high prices even if they were not grown anew. However, the price of rice and flour has decreased. This information was learned after visiting Kawran Bazar, Nayabazar and Malibag raw markets of the capital on Thursday and talking to buyers and sellers.
The price of broiler chicken per kg increased by 6.45 percent during the week, government body Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) reviewed the daily market price list on Thursday. The price of farm eggs per hali (4 pcs) increased by 9.21 percent. After visiting the capital’s retail market and talking to the vendors, it is said that the farm’s eggs were sold at Tk 130 per dozen, which was Tk 120 last week. Besides, broiler chicken was sold at Tk 170 per kg, which was sold at Tk 160 seven days ago. Apart from this, domestic chicken has increased by Tk 10 per kg and sold at Tk 560 within a week.

That’s why I sold every dozen eggs last week for Tk 120. Now in the wholesale market due to the increase in the price again, we have to bring it at a higher price and sell it at a higher price of 130 rupees per dozen.
When asked to know, Nasir Uddin, publicity secretary of Tejgaon Multipurpose Egg Traders Association, told Jugantar that after the administration’s campaign, the price of eggs has dropped unreasonably. Now the price is trying to return to normal. A few days ago the price had gone up a lot.
Consumer Directorate started raiding inside it. Then the market price fell a lot. Vendors sell eggs at a discount. At that time, each piece of egg was sold at the wholesale level for 8 and a half taka. But the production cost is above 9 rupees.
Talking to the sellers, it is known that beans, tomatoes and carrots have been sold at Tk 120-140 per kg in the retail market. Besides, each piece of gourd was sold for 60-70 taka. Barb is 80-90 per kg, bitter gourd 80, brinjal 60-70, patol 40-50, dhundal 60, shrimp 40-50, dal 40 and cucumber is sold at 80 per kg.
Looking around the fish market, it can be seen that each kg of raw fish has been sold for Tk 320-450. Tilapia, 50 kg fish sold at 160-200 taka. Per kg hornfish was sold at Tk 350-460. 200-250 taka per kg of kaimash. And a kg of Pabda fish was sold for Tk 350-500.
Rabiul Islam, who came to buy products in Kawran market of the capital, said that the price of eggs in the market has started to increase again. Also the price of broiler chicken has increased. Besides, the prices of vegetables and fish are like fire. The situation is such that no vegetable can be found below 50 rupees per kg. In such a situation the market has to be strictly monitored.
According to Bogra Bureau, the price of eggs in Bogra is increasing again. After the rise in fuel oil prices, the price of eggs rose to Rs 44-48 per hali. Although it has come down to 36 rupees during the campaign of the administration, the price of eggs has been increasing for the last one week.
On Thursday, it is seen selling at wholesale 38 taka and retail at 40-42 taka. Wholesale traders say that in the absence of strict supervision by the administration, the big companies have again increased the price of eggs. Even though the price of eggs has increased, they are selling eggs at a loss as they are less in the surrounding districts.
