Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) will introduce world-class treatment services for all cancers including leukemia. In a scientific seminar organized on the occasion of the World Leukemia Day, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Sharfuddin Ahmed informed this information. The Vice-Chancellor emphasized on creating awareness among patients, relatives and healthcare providers about the diagnosis and treatment of leukemia patients. He said, treatment varies according to the type of leukemia. Everyone should come forward to diagnose all types of cancer including blood cancer and create public awareness. According to the same statistics, about 3,000 new people are diagnosed with leukemia in a year in Bangladesh and more than 2,000 people die of leukemia. Leukemia patients mainly approach the doctor with the symptoms of anemia, weakness, bleeding, fever.
