Mumbai: Tata Sons Chairman Cyrus Mistry died in a car accident in Maharashtra’s Palghar on Sunday. He was 54 years old.

It is known that he was going to Mumbai from Ahmedabad in a Mercedes car. Cyrus’ car hit the divider. The accident took place when the car hit a road divider in Charo area of ​​Palghar, 135 km from Mumbai. Photos and videos from the scene of the accident show that the front part of the car is badly damaged. The interior of the car is also almost in a state of disrepair.

Palghar District Superintendent of Police Balasaheb Patil said, “The accident happened around 3:15 a.m., when Mistry was going to Mumbai from Ahmedabad. The accident took place on a bridge over Surya River. The incident is being treated as an accident.”

Two other people, including the driver, were in the car with Cyrus. They were rescued and admitted to a hospital in Gujarat. According to the latest news, besides Cyrus, another person in the car named Jahangir Dinsha Pandole died in the accident.

Notably, Cyrus graduated in civil engineering from the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine in London. Masters in Management from London Business School. In 1991, Shapoorji expanded the business after joining the Palonji Group.

Cyrus joined the Tata board after his father Pallonji Mistry retired from the Tata Sons board in 2006. After six years in 2012, Ratan Tata stepped down from the post of chairman of the Tata group. After that, Cyrus came to that position. Cyrus was the chairman until 2016.
