The police recovered the half-melted floating body of an unidentified person (30) from the Sangu river at Chandnaish of Chittagong.
On Saturday (September 3) at 4 pm, the body was recovered from under the bridge (Dhopachari-Bandarban connection bridge) built on the Sangu River in Ward No. 02 of Dhopachhari Union and sent to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem. Sub-Inspector (SI) Abhar in-charge of Dhopachhari Investigation Center confirmed the matter.
He said that a local man called 999 after seeing the body floating in the Sangu River and informed that the officer in charge of Chandanish police station reached the spot and recovered the body and sent it to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. He also said that the body was inside a sack. If the lower part of the body was outside the sack, the knee was tied with a rope. The body is believed to be a few days old. The actual cause of death can be ascertained after receiving the post-mortem report.
When contacted on the phone, the officer in charge of Chandnaish police station. Anwar Hossain said that the identity of the body recovered from the Sangu river in the Chandnaish police station near the Bandarban border has not been identified. But the shape of the body seems to be tribal. In this regard, a murder case has been registered in Chandanish police station against an unknown accused.
