The court ordered the death penalty for two accused in the murder case of Ali Akbar, a minor oil trader and hired motorcycle driver in Gopalganj. Besides, both the accused were fined one lakh rupees each. Judge Md. Abbas Uddin of Gopalganj Additional Session Judge Court gave the verdict on Sunday afternoon.

According to the details of the case, the accused Suman Molla and Nuru Faraji alias Nurul hired Ali Akbar’s motorcycle from Mahuar Mor of Kotalipara Upazila on the evening of May 22, 2008 to go to Majumdarkandi village of Rajair Upazila of neighboring Madaripur District.

The next day on May 23, the police recovered his body from the side of the road in Habibnagar area of ​​Sadar Upazila. In this incident, on the same day, the victim’s brother Ali Ahmed filed a murder case in Gopalganj’s Kotalipara police station.

Later, after a long investigation, when the accused Suman Molla was arrested, according to his information, the police also arrested Nuru Faraji alias Nurul. After the investigation, on January 14, 2009, SI Mokhtar Hossain filed a charge sheet against the two in the court. After a long hearing and testimony, the court announced the verdict against the defendants on Sunday. The accused were absconding at the time of the verdict.
