BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi commented that the incident of Shaon’s murder in Narayanganj is the final manifestation of the model of one-party government.
He made this comment after filing a case against the police in the Narayanganj court regarding the killing of ‘Zubadal activist’ Shaon in the clash between the police and BNP leaders and activists on Sunday (September 4) morning.
Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, even after the cuts, the only right that is still there in the constitution is the democratic right of assembly and rally. That right has been taken away, as we have been saying time and time again. And the proof of this is the incident of September 1. They don’t want any democratic rights. We strongly condemn and protest against it. I also wish Shaun’s soul to rest in peace.
On this day in Narayanganj in the case of the death of ‘subdal worker’ Shawon, he mentioned the names of 42 policemen including Narayanganj District Police Superintendent and accused 150 other unknown persons in the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Imran Mollah.
In this regard, former president of Dhaka Bar Association, Advocate Masud Ahmed Talukder said that in some parts of the country, including Narayanganj, the police shot those who were present in the peaceful procession without any reason. Many activists were injured and Juba Dal activist Shaon died on the spot after being shot. We came to know about these incidents from media, newspapers and those who were present there, we filed a case in court. A total of 42 accused have been made in the court. Also, police sub-inspector Kanak, who shot Shaon dead, has been made the prime accused.
He further said, we submitted to the court by filing a case that the law has empowered you. BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi filed the case in court legally. The law gave him the right. Filed a case accordingly. Our submission examines who is guilty and takes legal action against them. The court said, after the examination, it will pass the order which is lawful.
Lawyers of the case Advocate Mahbubur Rahman, President of Narayanganj District Nationalist Lawyers Forum Advocate Sarkar Humayun Kabir, General Secretary Advocate Abul Kalam Azad Zakir, Joint General Secretary Advocate Anwar Pradhan and Organizing Secretary Advocate AKM Omar Farooq Nayan and other lawyers were present.
