Relatives complain of patient’s death due to negligence in Kushtia Khoksa

Relatives of Kushtia’s Khoksa Upazila Health Complex claimed that the patient died because the nurse did not allow the patient to enter the cabin as they could not pay the amount. This incident happened last Friday night at Khoksa Upazila Health Complex.

The deceased’s grandson Rana said that on Friday night, his grandfather Akram Hossain fell ill due to respiratory problems and was brought to the emergency department of Khoksa Upazila Health Complex from Ektarpur village. The doctor on duty admitted his grandfather and ordered night duty nurses Mumtaz Begum and Reena Khatun to give oxygen on an emergency basis. Meanwhile, if they want to take the cabin, the nurse asks them to deposit the cabin rent first. They had an argument with the two nurses as they did not have change money. He said that the two nurses did not agree when he requested to take his grandfather to the cabin and start treating him first. After 15/20 minutes passed, his grandfather’s physical condition deteriorated and at one point he collapsed in the lap of death while gasping for breath. Rana exclaims that her grandfather was killed by two nurses negligently. He demands their justice. In this regard, Dr. Khoksa Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer. Md. Kamruzzaman Sohel said that when a comatose patient comes to the hospital, treatment should be started first.

But the patient’s relatives demand that the patient should be taken to the cabin first and then the treatment should be started. Because of which there is a delay in talking to the nurses and the patient dies after being taken to the cabin.
