Police raided the house of Awami League leader and Councilor of Ward No. 27 of Gazipur City Corporation Javed Ali Job. According to the raid, his younger son Ashraful Alam Rajan (28) died of a stroke. The elder son Ruhul Amin Rajeev (35) was arrested by the police. There are six cases against him on various charges including arms and drugs.
This information was confirmed by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station of GMP, Rafiqul Islam.
Rajeev’s house is in Lakshipura area under Sadar police station of Gazipur city. His father Javed Ali alias Jobe is a councilor of ward number 27 of Gazipur City Corporation and former vice-president of Gazipur Municipal Awami League and a member of current ward Awami League.
The police officer said that as part of the ongoing anti-narcotics operation of the police, an operation was conducted in Lakshipura area of Ward No. 27 of Gazipur city on Friday midnight. At that time, on the basis of secret information, the ward councilor of that area (Ward No. 27) Jabed Ali Job was raided and his elder son Ruhul Amin Rajeev was arrested. Two arms cases and one drug case against Rajeev are under investigation. He was absconding in this case. Apart from this, there are three more cases against him. Legal action is pending in this regard.
Meanwhile, after receiving information about the police operation, Ashraful Alam Rajan (28), the younger son of the councilor, fell ill at his father-in-law’s house in Joydevpur town around three in the morning on Saturday. When he was taken to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital, Rajan died while undergoing treatment at around 6 am. Councilor Javed Ali Jabe said his younger son Rajan died of cardiac arrest.
However, locals say that two brothers Rajiv and Rajan were in the same house during the police raid. Rajan, an active member of the Metropolitan Awami Svechsevak League to avoid arrest during a police operation, fell ill while sneaking away from home. He ran away from home and took refuge in his father-in-law’s house. When his condition worsened there, he was taken to the hospital. He later died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
