A child named Survi (5) lost his left arm after being hit by a train in Kushtia. At the same time, the child’s mother Sumi (30) was seriously injured. The accident took place in Dhopapara area of ​​Harishankarpur at around 8 o’clock this Saturday morning.

Injured Sumi Khatun is the wife of Sappi Islam of C block in housing estate area of ​​Kushtia city. 12 years ago, Sappi got married to Sumi of Dahkula village of Kushtia Sadar Upazila. They have another eight-year-old son.

The injured Sumi’s relatives said that Sumi often quarreled with her husband. Sumi attempted suicide by jumping under a train with her five-year-old daughter Suravi this morning due to a family dispute. At this time, the child’s left hand was separated from the body. Apart from this, the mother and the child suffered serious injuries in different parts of their bodies.

After this incident, the locals rescued the mother and daughter and admitted them to Kushtia General Hospital.

The officer-in-charge (OC) of Poradah Railway Police Station confirmed the matter. Monjer Ali said that the accident occurred in the Darshana-bound freight train leaving Faridpur in the Harishankarpur area of ​​Kushtia city around 8 am.

According to hospital sources, mother and daughter were admitted to Kushtia General Hospital around 9 am today in a critical condition. The lower part of the left elbow of the injured child was severed from the body. They are being given necessary treatment.
